Royden Lepp interviewed by Wayne's Comics

The latest podcast from Wayne's Comics includes an interview with Royden Lepp.

There's only a cursory reference to the fact that a film is in the pipeworks.

You may find some of the detail about the storyline include spoilers if you haven't read the books.....and when I say spoilers, I mean one little detail I'd rather I hadn't heard myself. This isn't a complaint, of course. The podcast is hosted at the Major Spoilers site!

The calm but genuine enthusiasm shown by Wayne Hall is really worth listening to. It's just a lovely, warm convo.

You can listen, download and/or subscribe here. It's podcast #89.

Free Comic Book Day

Rust joined with Archaia's other awesome title to make a special flip book for distribution on Free Comic Book Day.

Archaia is proud to present a square flip book containing a collection of original short stories from some of its all-reader-friendly titles! In David Petersen’s Mouse Guard short, a young Sadie is told a mouse fairy tale about proving one’s self and the best trait to look for in love. Royden Lepp’s Rust tells how rocket-boy Jet Jones learns an important lesson while helping the younger members of the Taylor family with their daily chores on the farm.

Royden also attended a signing session in Lynwood.

Elisa Mader interview Royden Lepp for The Examiner

This was published to coincide with Free Comic Book Day.

What can you tell us about the upcoming film adaptation of “Rust”?

The film is in that dark, quiet place where no one can talk about it!

I first connected with the writer, Aline Brosh McKenna, who, in her words, picked up “Rust” and couldn’t put it down.

From there it kind of blew up into this amazing dream team of people. The executive direct, Simon Kinberg ("X-Men: First Class"), is so passionate about filmmaking and about storytelling—absolutely the best producer we could have. Joe Cornish, writer-director of “Attack the Block” and co-writer on “Tintin,” is the director. He’s really got a vision for the movie.

The Oregonian's Steve Duin writes about Rust

Steve caught up with Rust at month's Emerald City Comicon.

A tale of war and remembrance, a gloriously rendered thrill ride, and "a deep and touching meditation on family," in the words of Stephen Christy, Archaia's editor-in-chief, "Rust" is the best graphic novel I've read in years.

Ancillary Characters discuss RUST in their podcast

You can find it here. If you like it, you can subscribe! The Rust chat starts at 45 minutes in but the pod and chatter is good fun to listen through.
Jet fights a huge, huge robot and the way the bodies move from scene to scene is like an animation. It's like a flip book.
This is going to be a great series when it's all done.
